This small photo is a portrait of Joseph K. Chickering of the Class of 1869. Chickering studied English at Amherst, Johns Hopkins, and Harvard, and was a professor of Enlgish Literature at the University of Vermont. He also worked on a variety of Amherst publications including Triennial Catalogs and the Obituary Record of Graduates (Amherst College Biographical Record 1963, 127). |
